Hannah Artwear

The genesis for Australian label Hannah Artwear originated with a trip to India in 2017. This is where renowned artist Hannah Grossberg fell in love with the beauty of traditional woodblock printing and embroidery techniques used by artisans in Jaipur and surrounding Rajasthan.

The label’s name ‘Hannah Artwear’ is inspired by describing her pieces as ‘wearable art.’ Grossberg views the pieces she creates in her Sydney studio as a harmonious, ongoing collaboration between herself and local artisans in India. Drawing ingenuity from her travels and her personal watercolour art, Grossberg paints swirling paisleys and florals that artisans then apply by hand onto diaphanous silk habotai and cotton voile.

Wood blocks are individually hand carved to match Grossberg’s design and are dipped into rich colour pigments, then they are applied by hand to fabric to create a one-of-a-kind impression. From inception to production, the entire process of creating a Hannah Artwear garment is intrinsically driven by a love and appreciation of the synergy between art and craft.

By using natural fabrics, Hannah Artwear pieces are designed to be seamlessly folded into your suitcase, making them ideal travel companions for far flung exotic escapes.

Hannah’s silhouettes celebrate a powerful innate femininity. Sweeping hems, gently puffed sleeves, and elegantly shaped bodices are all calling cards for the Australian designer.
