Before launching her eponymous label in 2004, Australian designer and artist Camilla Franks created costumes for theatre performances. This early experience in the creative arts designing flamboyant, one-of-a-kind costumes translated perfectly into the designer’s vision for CAMILLA. Theatrical seasonal releases burst with colour, highlight exaggerated proportions, and champion floaty fabrics. The combined effect of all these elements deliver a sense of the dramatic in all its glory.

A narrative thread is woven throughout each release of garments, inspired by one of two far-flung adventures that Franks’ takes annually. In her global wanderings, the designer soaks herself in all areas of a culture; textiles, music, architecture, art, food, and daily life. Then, on returning to Sydney, with the help of her dedicated and authentic collective of in-house artists and designers, she translates her immersive experiences in foreign lands into a fully realised collection.

From delicate hand-applied Swarovski crystal embellishments to hand-drawn prints and patterns that are painstakingly placed with intention on the finest silks, cottons, and linens.
