In 2015, while visiting Honolulu, Hawaii, Spanish entrepreneur Alejandro Porras founded ALOHAS. Inspired by the locals’ reaction to his ‘avarcas’ (a popular type of pared-back sandal from Menorca, Spain), Porras realised a desire for shoes that paired simplistic design with ease of use and versatility. Porras’ initial goal was to use traditional Spanish silhouettes like the ‘avarca’ and the quintessential summer-ready ‘espadrille’ to create modern shoes that were easy to wear and even easier to style.

Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, the dedicated creative team at ALOHAS continue to blend the minimalist appeal of traditional Spanish silhouettes with the vivid, sun-drenched summer haze of Hawaii. Adopting a less-is-more approach to shoe design, each collection is built from premium leather uppers and pastel-coloured suedes, while oftentimes featuring natural fabrics like dyed jute soles for elevated style and comfort.

Each pair of ALOHAS shoes is individually handcrafted at local factories across both Spain and Portugal, with an ‘on-demand model’ used to minimise overproduction and encourage responsible, eco-conscious shopping.
