The Mariachi trouser, dressed down: dark navy cotton trousers are the canvas here, lifted by an embroidered side stripe in red, mustard, cream and pale blue that runs the full length of each leg, with matching embroidered bands across the waist and hem. A mid-rise waist, side pockets and a relaxed straight cut keep the silhouette wearable, the embroidery doing the styling work without trying too hard. Made in lightweight cotton sheeting that wears clean and crisp through a long, hot day. Try them with a fine white tank, a tooled leather belt and as little else as possible.

In 2015, ex-corporate world best friends, Amrit Balani and Samuel Macias were driven by a single-minded appreciation of creativity’s capacity to heal, inspire, and connect, to launch women’s fashion label Maison Hotel. After a coincidental trip to India, Balani and Macias garnered an appreciation and admiration for Indian craftsman’s artisanal approach to design and technique.
