Painterly florals in magenta, teal and dusty cream bloom across a deep black ground on this printed blouse, a print that reads more vintage botanical illustration than seasonal floral. A contrast paisley trim runs along the yoke seams as a quiet final detail, while a collarless neck and full button placket keep the shape easy. Billowing balloon sleeves gather into neat cuffs, and a softly gathered yoke gives the body its volume. The fluid drape catches the air without weight. In 2015, ex-corporate world best friends, Amrit Balani and Samuel Macias were driven by a single-minded appreciation of creativity’s capacity to heal, inspire, and connect, to launch women’s fashion label Maison Hotel. After a coincidental trip to India, Balani and Macias garnered an appreciation and admiration for Indian craftsman’s artisanal approach to design and technique.
